Ice-breaker

Sometimes a simple game that can be related to the lesson can be a good ice-breaker for a new club or class. Here's one that's flexible and that the children have a lot of fun with.

Fill a jar with mints or chocolate kisses (or anything else the children love to eat.) Have one child leave the room and another hide the jar anywhere in the room. When the child returns, play "hot and cold" by having the other children clap softly when the child is far away from the hiding place or gradually louder as he gets closer until he finds it. Allow the child to remove the cap and take one of the treats when he finds the jar.

This can be a nice lead-in for a lesson on the lost sheep, Zacchaeus or any other lesson on salvation, especially when reference is made to Jesus' statement, "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:10)
