Close Encounters with Missions

In the eyes of children missionaries are often special, superhuman, superspiritual beings somehow removed from the average Christian. Help the child to see that God could call him into missions by arranging a “Close Encounter” with a real missionary.

Arrange to have a foreign missionary on furlough or a local home missionary to come to your club/class to tell the children about their ministry, how God called them to the mission field and what the individual child can do to further the cause of missions. Incorporate maps, pictures and objects from the missionary's field. Be sure to have a time of prayer when the children can pray for the missionary's specific needs.
