Scripture Memory for the Very Young
You're all prepared to teach your memory verse: You're ready for your
introduction, you know exactly which words and phrases you need to explain,
and how to apply the verse. And your visual is just out of this world! Then
you remember - your students don't know how to read yet! How are you going
to teach them John 3:16 when they can't even read the visual you spent so
much time on?
Take a look at that visual again. Are there words that you can replace with
pictures or symbols? Using John 3:16 as an example - How about using the
familiar circle as a symbol of God (showing His eternity,) a heart for the
word "loved" and a picture of the earth for "world"?
Then either teach them a short portion of the verse ("For God so loved the
world") or teach it to them in shorter sections, one each week.
