Cross the Creek
After you have taught your memory verse, lay down "rocks" cut out of
posterboard according to the number of words in the verse. Have each child
attempt to "cross the creek" by stepping on a rock for each word of the verse
they can say. Children love pretending to fall into the "creek" and get wet
when they get a word wrong. Let them try again until they can cross
successfully.
I recommend a dark colored posterboard. Simply cut out irregularly shaped
pieces about 7" or 8" (20 cm.) across. Mine have survived an amazingly long
time. (Of course, you do not want to use the same game every week.)
