Teaching Tip of the Week

In just about every teaching situation, you will have two kinds of children - the believing children and the unbelievers. You will want to have teaching for both. (See the tip for 6/17/96 - Two Kinds of Students.) When beginning to teach specifically for either group, be sure to “flag them down”.

• For the unbeliever: “If you have never recieved the Lord Jesus as your Savior....”
  Since the Gospel is still relevant to the saved child, use this flag to begin your invitation.

• For the believer: “If you have received the Lord Jesus as your Savior....”
  It is confusing for the unbelieving child to think that he must live the Christian life - especially since he can't without the indwelling empowerment of the Holy Spirit!

These little “flags” will help the children see which teaching is specifically for them. The believing child will also be helped in his own witness by hearing the Gospel presented to the unbeliever and the unbelieving child will also be helped to see what he is missing out on by not believing when he hears the teaching for the Christian child.
