Help!

Have you ever asked for help with a large group of children and gotten a “helper” that might as well not have even been there?

Try meeting with anyone that will help at least once before the session. This might even be a short five minute talk fifteen minutes before the children arrive. Pray with your helper and give them just a couple of specific things to do. One thing that really helps is to have this person sit with the children and keep an eye out for potential discipline problems. If they spot something starting, have them prepared to move to sit next to the troublemaker – particularly between that child and another that he might be provoking.

Don’t give your helper any responsibility they are not equipped to handle and be sure to thank them for their help. You may find this person wanting to become a more permanent helper that can be mentored into the ministry.
