Teaching Tip of the Week

Timing Is Everything

The order in which you place activities on the agenda can make a big difference. And the younger the children, the bigger the difference.

Preschool and kindergarten aged children need to have those activities scheduled first in which they are expected to sit the longest and pay the closest attention. This would especially include the Bible lesson and prayer time. If you are planning a two-hour Vacation Bible School, have mercy on the Bible teacher by scheduling the younger ones to go to Bible time first, especially before they go to the “fuelling station.” (snacks)

The children should always be under control, but unnatural expectations can lead to frustration – yours and theirs!
